7-Zip is a free compression software that can handle almost all type of well known popular file type like ZIP, CAB, RAR, ISO. In addition, it offers its own 7z format which compression ration is far better than other type.
The version 9, which is currently still in the development phase. For the first type the 7-Zip will support LZMA2 algorithm as well as the archive type XZ. In addition this version will able to unpack *.7z archives and file called APM (Apple Partition Map). On the other hand the performance of the application has been improved in certain scenarios.
